Anger, Friends and Danger...

THE BOY WITH A BAD CHARACTER.

There once was a boy with a very bad character. His father gave him a box of spikes and told him to hammer one into the garden fence every time he lost his patience and got into an argument with someone. The first day the boy hammered 37 spikes into the fence. Over the next few weeks he began learning to control himself, and the number of spikes he had to hammer diminished day by day. He had discovered that exercising self control was a lot easier than hammering spikes. Finally the day arrived when the boy didn't hammer any spikes into the fence. He went to see his father and told him that he hadn't had to nail any spikes that day at all. His father told him to pull a spike out of the fence every day he didn't lose temper. Days passed, and finally the boy was able to inform his father that all the spikes had been removed. The father walked with his son over to the fence and said: "My son, you have done well, but look at all the holes in the fence. It will never be the same as it was before. "When you fight with someone and say terrible things, you create wounds just like these holes. You can stick a knife into someone and then pull it out, but the scar will always be there. No matter how many times you say you're sorry, the scar will remain." A wound caused by words is as bad as a physical wound. Friends are like precious jewels, they make you smile, they encourage you, they're there to help you and listen to you when you're in need. They offer you support, and open their hearts to you.

A FRIEND IS A TREASURE
by J.K.McManus.

A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy and grace.
And makes the world we live in a better and happier place.

Are we really conscious of our consciousness...

Sally A. Kaiser: Tim, I have visited the World without words .. in a vision, it was very like one might imagine the mind of G^d. It was awesome, and words were not necessary at all, in fact they would have been tedious.

For us Words have been evolution in time/space, not always a good path, but a better life for many (too many sometimes) .. and the fact that many can live if they choose to be wise and educated. When we have stripped the evil from the mix, we can be happy and educated once again.

Tim Benz: Hi Sally, I too have visited a similar world in meditation were words were just unnecessary. Learning was totally intuitive, based upon my intention. Solid structures where like empty line drawings. History was just there if I wanted it.
That is very interesting that you bring this up...Thank you.

The Dalai Lama has a very interesting thought ...

What is the meaning of religion? What is your view? Have you deliberately and consciously taken the time to decide for yourself? Or do you have a "hand-me-down" religion from parents, teachers, friends and neighbors?

Does Language control your reality...

New Word Order: Libre Lingua www.vimeo.com
The World is made of language. The ability to control language imparts another capability, the control of reality itself, language creates reality. We are enslaved by the linguistic assignments of our culture. An alteration of language can transform our comprehension of the universe. Reality is not ...

Tim Benz: I have lived with some of the poorest and less educated as we would consider them. In comparing their culture with ours; they are some of the happiest people I have ever met. They were simply happy and happily simple. To them life was about life, not work. This is a "human being" rather than a "human doing". A lesson to us, and all our striving ...

The dilemma Western culture has is to return to simplicity and escape our "to be or not to be"/ should I or shouldn't I mentality of our beloved Hamlet. We are too educated, but there is no way to escape our education. One day we will make the leap of faith and once again accept the simple as desirable. We are the makers of our own demise.

500 words is uneducated like a drug addict. It's like a cave man. I don't see very many of them around. Even the Geico guys can do that.

Just for a moment if you would...imagine or visualize a world without words, there would still be a reality; without childhood, adolescent and adult conditioning we would not. Words hypnotize people. In most cases we have to de-hypnotize clients before we can actually work with them to help them out of their in internal conflicts; the result of negative conditioning.

Barbara Weaver: The frustration level of someone with poor language skills is immense. Thank you for sharing this, it is awesome.

Tim Benz: Yes, thanks for the distinction. There is a marked difference between un-educated and ignorance. The late Robert A. Johnson, a Jungian analyst, wrote four excellent short books; He, She, We and Transformation. He compares the intellect of Don Quixote (the two dimensional man), Hamlet (the three dimensional man) and Faust (the complete man that is most like Quixote who is transformed from Hamlet mentality of never knowing).

Which is stronger... stone or water?

Which is stronger... stone or water? Stone is rigid and solid and unyielding, yet water, which offers no resistance, carves canyons through solid rock.

Anger is an emotion of resistance. It pushes against what exists in the moment. We can no more change what is around us in this way than we can move a mountain by pushing against it. Acceptance does not push. It allows, and in this allowing, it alters what it holds just as a river carves through canyon walls without effort.
We have the ability to change the frequency of anger within our bodies, and in so doing, to change its frequency around us, altering the dynamic of any situation and our entire environment.

Burundanga business cards ... Is it True. Are you in Danger?

Hi Mel,
I hope this is a bit helpful to you. What I have found ( and this is not totally conclusive) but I think it can serve as a fairly good guide. If I discover other situations I will let you know, as far as the Burundanga business card thing goes. You are wise to note that you weren't sure if it was right or not. I am sure you will be relive to know that it is not true. To have a potent psychoactive dose on a business card; that would have to be some powerful s_ _t!
When stories get out of hand like this it is known as a "Urban Myth". It is nothing but people just not knowing or at worst fear mongering based on a half truth. A far as I can tell, you have nothing to worry about with business cards. The active alkaloid in burundanga is scopolamine which has been known and used by medicine for years. It’s nothing new.
But there is much more to say. This drug (scopolamine) is real but one would need a much stronger dose to have the alleged effect. If it is in a drink or ingested in some manner is a very different matter. The rest I am sure you know, probably more about than I do. But it is interesting to know that women use these drugs on men; not for sex but for money. The abuse is apparently wide spread in Columbia where 1 in 5 poisoning cases at the hospital is from scopolamine poisoning. Norway is a lot closer to home for you in Germany which has had 20 documented cases where Rohypnol (Rohypnol comes as a pill that dissolves in liquids. Some are small, round, and white. Newer pills are oval and green-gray in color. When slipped into a drink, a dye in these new pills makes clear liquids turn bright blue and dark drinks turn cloudy. But this color change might be hard to see in a dark drink, like cola or dark beer, or in a dark room. Also, the pills with no dye are still available. The pills may be ground up into a powder) tablets contain scopolamine. Either way if someone has ingested rohypnol, scopolamine or something similar, they could have a problem. This is what you need to be acutely aware of. I've included a few links for you in case you want to look into this more.

I highly recommend you go to:

FYI Where I live here in the Arizona desert we have this plant they talk about. It has several names; Jimson Weed, Local Weed, Sacred Datura, and others. It has been used by the Native American Indians for centuries as a ritual ceremony. It is very dangerous if abused and can cause insanity. Hence the names. I don't know about Jimson, maybe he's crazy. I don't know. But the stories go that many miners were, some we are sure because of the Jimson Weed. It does have a very strong pungent and (and maybe intoxicating) smell when cut. It always reminded me of an interesting peanut butter (a little bit seductive) and yes the smell is almost enough to send you somewhere. The plant grows surprisingly fast and large all in one season. It is soft and fleshy and one chop with a spade kills it. Then you smell it. It has the most beautiful lily white trumpet shaped flowers.
Doctors have used and chemical alkaloid, scopolamine at one time to assist birthing mothers with the delivery of her child. I had a number of beneficial effects for her. Mostly she forgot about it all because it can cause amnesia.

Indeed, the quantity of toxin diffusing through the skin barrier after one short contact of the fingers with an object is much too small to be readily absorbed in the body and to have any significant effect.
In recent years the criminal use of scopolamine has become epidemic in Colombia. Approximately one in five emergency room admissions for poisoning in Bogotá have been attributed to scopolamine.[14] In a bizarre case, a band of female thieves would impregnate their breasts with scopolamine and then would lure potential victims to lick their nipples. "Losing all willpower, the men readily gave up their bank access codes. The breast-temptress thieves then held them hostage for days while draining their accounts."[15] In June 2008, more than 20 people were hospitalized with psychosis in Norway after ingesting counterfeit Rohypnol tablets containing scopolamine. [3] There have been many reports of tourists robbed after having scopolamine slipped into drinks in bars, as well as food saturated with scopolamine being served to tourists in fast-food stands in various Asian countries. Most recently, these incidents have been reported in Thailand. [16]

Popular culture
The fictional use of scopolamine as a truth serum is featured in a number of works including Farewell, My Lovely, Where Eagles Dare and The Guns of Navarone. In 1957, scopolamine achieved a moderate level of notoriety via its mention in the film I Was a Teenage Werewolf, where Dr. Alfred Brandon uses it as part of his endeavor to regress the titular character to his "primitive roots." According to Dr. Liz Kingsley's film review site And You Call Yourself a Scientist, Brandon's line "Prepare the scopolamine!" is "the only scientifically accurate line in the whole film." In Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson, Dr. Gonzo mentions an incident in which he was given an entire datura root as a gift, ate the entire thing at once, and subsequently went blind, had to be taken back to his house in a wheelbarrow, and started making noises like a raccoon. In Carlos Castaneda's series of books The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, the datura plant is the favored shamanic, revelatory drug of the titular character. The book explores, in depth, Castaneda's alleged experiences under the influence of the drug, as well as the alleged rites surrounding its use and preparation. It was also used as an interrogation tool during Episode 9 of NBC's Kidnapped (TV series). It was also featured in the season 10 episode "Smut" of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit wherein a rapist was using the drug to prevent the women he raped from resisting him and from forming memories.

Bits of Wisdom...authors unknown...Does it...

Many people will walk in and out of your life, But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, us you head; To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it's his fault; If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average mins discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

He, who loses money, loses much; He, who loses friends, loses much more; He, who loses faith, loses all.

Learn from the mistakes of others
You can't live long enought to make them all yourself.

Friends, you and me ..... you brought another friend.... and then there were three.

We started our group...
our circle of friends...
and like that circle...
There is no beginning or end.

YESTERDAY IS HISTORY.

TOMORROW'S A MYSTERY.

TODAY IS A GIFT

Maybe...Somehow...I'll Truly Love...

Maybe we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times, we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new one that has been opened for us.
Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives. Maybe the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Maybe the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures, and heartaches.
Maybe you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.
Maybe there are moments in life when you miss someone -- a parent, aspouse, a friend, a child, your girlfriend/boyfriend -- so much that you just want to pick them up from your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you appreciate them more.
Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
Maybe you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too. Maybe you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave him or her alone.
Maybe giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but if it doesn't, be content that it grew in yours.
Maybe happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.
Maybe you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one who makes your heart smile.
Maybe you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.
Maybe you should try to live your life to the fullest because when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling, but when you die, you can be the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

What can Gratitude do for Me...

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what
we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into
acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can
turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger
into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings
peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

What are we teaching our children ...

"When we teach a child to draw, we teach him how to see. When we teach a child to play a musical instrument, we teach her how to listen. When we teach a child to dance, we teach him how to move through life with grace. When we teach a child to read and write, we teach her how to think. When we nurture imagination, we create a better world, one child at a time." ~Jane Alexander

Anger is not negative......holding onto it is...

We are not human beings on a spiritual journey,we are spiritual beings on a human journey.
The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
The truth shall set you free but first it will piss you right off!
Give light and people will find their own way.
Ignorance is bliss but only for a while.
The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.
Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.
If you think you can, you can. and if you think you cant, your right.
Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.
Anger is not negative......holding onto it is.
If you dont say what you feel - it doesn't matter what you say.
Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.
Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get, it's what you are expected to give--which is everything.
Some people will not tolerate such emotional honesty in communication. They would rather defend their dishonesty on the grounds that it might hurt others. Therefore, having rationalized their phoniness into nobility, they settle for superficial relationships.
If we try hard to bring happiness to others, we cannot stop it from coming to us also. To get joy, we must give it, and to keep joy, we must scatter it.
An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Fortunate, indeed, is the man who takes exactly the right measure of himself and holds a just balance between what he can acquire and what he can use.
The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's, smile at someone and receive a smile in return, are to me continual spiritual exercises.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Half Truth...Is That Enough. One life to live... how is yours???

We have all been told, and it is intuitively true that we are the sum total of our experiences ...
Which is to say that we are burdened and a product of our pasts.
Release yourself today.
Forgive everyone especially yourself,
Then live the life you were born to live.

How to develop your gifts, talent and abilities in Two Easy Steps ...

"The road to success is paved with accelerated failures."
Michael Masterson
What he means is:
First; you must be willing to take a risk and make a mistake.
Second; You must make most of your mistakes at the beginning or your career and then correct them immediately.

Then be sure to never repeat it. But if you do, and that might happen, immediately correct it.
So, in a short time you will be making "smarter" and "smarter" mistakes.
In fact, you are away a head of your peers.

You will know this is 100% true when you see professionals making the very mistakes you use to make.

This is the power of Accelerated Failures.

When you consider mistakes or failures in this light, you begin to see what a precious and
irreplaceable gift they truly are.

Where would we be without them?

Accelerated Failure makes us face up to ourselves by looking for a better approach, a new angle or a clear direction to facilitating our ongoing learning as we come to "Master" our; gifts, talents and abilities. Successful people no matter what they do, are not afraid to be "wrong" and make mistakes.

Now can you see that being wrong, making mistakes; failure are the all important
guideposts along your particular path to great success.

"To swear off making mistakes is very easy.
All you have to do is swear off having ideas."
AWAI

Now we suddenly want to make more mistakes; have more failures. How weird.

But how do we do it? By asking for criticism from people wiser and more experienced than ourselves. Constructive criticism and helpful caring advice allows us to grow and learn much faster than we ever thought possible. Taken from this view point we can broaden and strengthen our understanding of ourselves and all others too.

Now take a brief moment to meditate on the idea of Accelerated Failures.
Take 3 deep breaths and as you exhale say,
"I am a person who makes mistakes and that is OK."

I thought there is magic like a secret the mind...but, maybe I'm wrong...

What do Eggs and Rabbits have to do with Easter... rabbits don't lay eggs.

Great Question Nadine!

We Germans have a great tradition of creating Many Great Traditions. My Mom is Dutch my Dad German, but I don't speak it : (

According to Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, the Easter Bunny as an Easter symbol bringing Easter eggs, seems to have its origins in Germany, where he was first recorded in a German publication in the early 1600s.... See More

The first edible bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s and were made of pastry and sugar.

The Easter Bunny was introduced to America by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s. The arrival of the German osterhase or hare was considered one of “childhood’s greatest pleasures.”

According to the tradition, children would build brightly colored nests, often out of caps and bonnets, in secluded areas of their homes. The osterhase would, if the children had been good, lay brightly colored eggs in the nest. As the tradition spread, the nest has become the manufactured, modern Easter basket, and the placing of the nest in a secluded area has become the tradition of hiding baskets : )

Everyone should be proud of their heritage. It is good to honor all our ancestors. No one is all good or all bad. But certain sugars are. Read up on it in my blog. Be GOOD to your Kids.

The Goddess of fertility

Jai Briggs
Jai Briggs
the word Easter is actually derived from an old goddess named Ishtar, and she was the goddess of fertility, which is where the rabbits and eggs come into play...fyi lol

What is in a Myth? Ishtar; Who is that?

Myths are wonderful metaphors in that they distill the wisdom of the ages. I really wish I had more time for them. Correct me if I am wrong but as I understand Ishtar is a mythical goddess of fertility, love, war, and sex from a fragmented story of some 5000 years ago in ancient Iraq. She is described as an ill tempered spoiled brat/prostitute that enters the underworld and makes certain demands of the gate keeper. She says;

If thou openest not the gate to let me enter,

I will break the door, I will wrench the lock,

I will smash the door-posts, I will force the doors.

I will bring up the dead to eat the living.

And the dead will outnumber the living.

Maybe this is some sort of nighmarish resurrection but I do not see where any of this connects to Easter, bunnies or eggs. I see a structural similarity between Easter and Ishtar and of course bunnies and fertility, But I don't know when it was discovered that women carried eggs but I am sure that modern medicine has the credit rather than myth.
Traditions, history and myth intertwine and things get lost. But, I don't know and I wouldn't claim to. It seems the best we can do is speculate. So, if what you say is true; what is the story and how does it relate to Easter as it is celebrated today? Who is it about? What is the deeper meaning? What can we learn from it?

Religious wars still exist

Hi Jai,
Thanks for your response and honesty. It seems to me that honesty is at the heart of all "religions" and may I call them 'belief systems' that help us make sense of a complex world which in itself often leads to the problems we see in our daily lives.

Someone believing they are right and "God" is on their side and some how loves them more than the rest of us 'infidels' 'non-believers' 'gentiles' 'heathens' 'pagans' etc etc. seems more than a bit off to me.

Here's and oxymoron; more people have died in the name of religion than for any other reason; even though nearly all religions condone killing! Yet, they kill. Religious wars still exist, even though we are told they don't.

My point of view; this 'ego' problem stems from a deep seated need to be "right" in order to deny the deeper problem of insecurity within their own belief system. In this regard; religion has failed them but then again these are tough lessons to learn when we follow others rather than our hearts.

Have a Blessed Day.
